LO4 Planning a social media campaign (Gemini Film)

Brief -  Gemini Films are an independent film company based in the UK. The company wants to promote the opening of its new film ‘In Static’. The genre of the film is a gritty thriller with a BBFC certification of 15. The film will be released in July 2018. The film is expected to generate interest from a variety of TV magazines and review websites because the lead actor is soap star ‘Harry Sparkie’. The narrative is centred on friendship and homelessness. Gemini Films wants to promote the film six months before the release. The trailer is complete.

What are the objectives and aims of the campaign?
The object and aims of this particular campaign is to promote inform and create hype around the release of 'In Static', the aim would be to create and produce campaigns that forms a blended marketing scheme, by using blended marketing it allows bigger exposure and constant reinforcement of the release of the film this ensuring that the release is seen by as mass audience as possible.

What channels would you use to reach your PRIMARY and SECONDARY audience
What content would you put on each channel and WHY?

Things i could be asked to talk about in the exam,

*Channels used to reach the audience - ALWAYS JUSTIFY THE CHANNEL AND CONTENT

Legal and Ethical issues -

State what the aims and objectives of the campaign are.

Gemini Films objectives and aims of the campaign around the new release 'In Static' is to promote and create awareness for the upcoming film, the aim is to alert the target audience (15-24) of the film, the brief plot and genre of the film. They would achieve this in branding and advert releases by colour denotation and images used, e.g using darker colours such as navy and grey due to denote an older audience and the dark genre of thriller alongside using images of actors candidly sat on the street to denote to the plot line of the film .
The objectives of the campaign is to start promoting 'In Static' 6 months before the release of the film, this means that advertising can start around xmas time and teaser trailers can be shown in shopping centres and before films, this will target mass audiences and are huge footfall areas around this time.
Another aim of the campaign is to demonstrate the popularity of the lead actor ‘Harry Sparkie’ this actor will be heavily featured in the blended marketing that will be on every social media platformed used by the target audience e.g snapchat, Instagram, Facebook.

Channels that I would use to reach my primary audience would be Instagram, snapchat and twitter, these being the most popular sites with 15-24-year olds, on these platforms I would have teaser trailers popping up on Instagram feed and playing before snapchat stories.
To ensure that I really made 'In Static' have a presence on these sites I would add additional features such as snapchat filters that have the same house style and imagery for the target audience to use, this incorporating the films marketing into everyday use of social media apps.
To target my secondary audience however I would promote the film on platforms such as Facebook and Pinterest, these platforms not being as popular with my target audience as platforms such as Instagram but still in use by a mass audience, on these platforms I would release both audio visual trailers but also just images promoting the film and these platforms would encourage users to create user generated advertising through sharing and liking the posts.
Even though the primary target audience isn’t as strong on these sites it allows parents and peers and friends on these platforms to be exposed to the marketing and this will bring in more profit for the film due to the film gaining exposure and notoriety.

Content I would create to promote this film would be teaser trailers with loud and impactful beating music, the beats syncing to violent or shocking scenes to depict the genre of the film, this is technique of coordinating visuals with audio is often used in drama/action and thriller genre films to make impactful scenes stand out.
For just visual releases as mentioned earlier I want the house style to represent the older audience and the gritty story line this meaning darker colours such as navy and san serif font to create connotations of strong and modern.
For snapchat filters promoting the film these would contain a dark coloured border around the users face along with the music playing from the trailer, this would create links between the movie release and the use of apps such as snapchat making the film very talked about and known.
