LO3 : How to develop a project

Apart from personal and social prosumers and grassroots productions, social media is increasingly used by media professionals to generate ideas for projects and use online tools and social media to collaborate 

What is a prosumer 

- An amateur talented consumer who uses tools to produce content onto platforms. e.g Zoella

What is a grassroots production 
- Media can be local/community made, the creators of projects are prosumers and are making the media to specifically target a niche audience. Often charities used grassroots due to the cheap and effective products created.

- Grassroots create 'citizen journalism', story's and news that is written and reported on by prosumers. e.g. Bahamas hurricane filmed by citizens in low quality used on CNN/FOX news.

3 benefits of project management and collaboration through online methods (globalisation)

- New insights and designs from other collaborators that wouldn't have been considered

- Improve the product due to constant editing by various collaborators

- Get tasks done quicker due to the split work load.
- don't have to use a computer can use apps increasing portability

Example 1.  APOLLO

Allows overview of all projects underway and this allows projects to be kept under control and on track,
You can set milestones for certain tasks and break down tasks into layers to make the work load easier.
Interactive timers can be used to keep track of time management on tasks and allocate time where it needs to be spent, this can also be a great way of getting tasks done to the appropriate amount of detail needed dependant on the timer set.
See your full activity on tasks e.g which other collaborators have edited and added to the tasks, this is helpful as you can monitor other activity and keep up to date with new additions to the work load. 

Example 2. GLIP

Full overview of collaborators and activity on all assets/projects, being able to add ; milestones, time tracking, calendars and discussions to projects to enable full success in the end project, these assets also allow things such as time management and deadlines to be factored into the work load, this being handy for globalization collaboration as this can ensure that even in different time zones tasks are completed by all collaborators.

You can share documents and files over the resource and upload either group or individual sharing with other collaborators, this being beneficial as everyone can access necessary documents and they don't have to put work on hold due to missing documents, because the team maybe be globalised this is really advantageous as documents can be added all the time to review progress.

Example 3. SOLO

See a 'dashboard' of all tasks and everyday things that need completing, looking at projects which comes with a timer on how much time has been spent, this allows time management skills to be brought into the tasks. Also allows electronic invoicing and allows notifications to be sent regarding sales.

The resource also allows a diary which manages deadlines and organises meetings and tasks in the same place, this is a great tool if everyone could see upcoming meetings and deadlines this would act as a prompt for the whole team to complete tasks.
